Notorious bandit kingpins in the North-Western states of Nigeria have expressed their desire for dialogue and amnesty from the government due to sustained aerial bombardments on their locations and hideouts by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The bandit leaders convened a meeting at Gusami village in Zamfara State, attended by several kingpins and their representatives, where they discussed peace initiatives and the surrender of weapons to the government forces.

The bandit leaders acknowledged their readiness to embrace peace with the new administrations in their respective states, but they voiced concern about the continuous attacks from the Nigerian Air Force, which have resulted in significant casualties and damage to their homes, families, and belongings….CONTINUE READING

During the meeting, the bandit leaders agreed to surrender parts of their weapons to the government forces while keeping some for self-defense against potential attacks from other bandit groups in Zamfara, Sokoto States, and border areas with Niger Republic.

They also requested the involvement of recognized and registered Fulani groups, like Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), in brokering the peace process and the Amnesty Programme.

Recent airstrikes by the Nigerian Military have targeted and eliminated scores of foot soldiers of notorious bandit kingpins, Dankarami and Ado Aliero, in Zamfara.

The Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji has intensified bombardments in the North-West to counter terrorist activities and restore peace in the region.
