The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed the success on Wednesday in Abuja, describing Kanawa’s death as a severe blow to Turji’s criminal network.
“Troops also inflicted fatal injuries on several of Turji’s close associates, including Dosso, Turji’s younger brother, and Danbokolo, one of his trusted allies,” Buba revealed.
The operation also led to the neutralization of several key commanders in Turji’s ranks, namely Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe, among others.
Over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp were neutralized in Sokoto State’s Gebe and Isa LGAs and Zamfara State’s Gidan Rijiya area in Shinkafi LGA. Another notable terrorist, Suleiman, a loyalist of the late Halilu Sububu, was also killed while leading reinforcements to defend Turji’s camp.
“This operation marks a significant blow to Bello Turji’s network, severely degrading their military and operational capabilities,” Buba stated, emphasizing the impact on the region’s overall security.
