A pro-democracy group, New Generation Leaders of Bayelsa State, has expressed its strong disapproval of the frequent attacks on All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts and supporters in Bayelsa State…CONTINUE READING

In a statement released by the National Coordinator, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, the group criticized the attacks on supporters of APC gubernatorial candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, as a source of concern.
Kemepadei described these attacks as an irrational and heartless approach taken by the ruling party in the state.
He pointed out that rather than seeking votes from the people, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had resorted to assaulting and mistreating law-abiding supporters of the APC.
The statement reads, “As APC supporters in Bayelsa State, we wholeheartedly denounce the reports of political thugs allegedly sponsored and dressed in full military uniform who recently attempted to invade Sylva’s Local Government Area (LGA).”
“Additionally, there have been incidents of harassment, intimidation, and attacks on dedicated APC members. These actions could potentially lead some of us to retaliate if necessary, unless the President intervenes.
This situation is highly condemnable and represents a significant threat to democracy. Due to the sacrifices we made in standing up for President Tinubu, we are now being hunted down like prey.”
“We therefore call on the President, Inspector General of Police (IGP), and other security agencies to take immediate action and bring the perpetrators of these sinister acts to justice before the situation escalates.”
“As a group, we are closely monitoring the attacks on APC members, which we believe are linked to the increasing popularity and substantial support of the APC in the state.
The President should intervene by directing the security agencies to remain vigilant regarding the continuous assaults on party members.”
