The leaders of the Niger Delta also extended congratulations to Wike for his new ministerial role.
Dr. Kingsley Kuku issued a statement on Saturday, stating that a delegation of 60 prominent leaders from the Niger Delta was led by Prof A.W. Obianime, a former President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
Regarding ongoing political events in Rivers, the leaders highlighted the strategic importance of the state to the South-South region, emphasizing the need to prevent a crisis.
“As Lagos State is crucial to the South West, Rivers State is equally vital to the Niger Delta. Any conflict affects us all, and we denounce the ongoing crisis playing out in the State House of Assembly,” the statement emphasized.
The statement urged Wike, as a political leader in Rivers, to use his influence to mediate peace, emphasizing the need for a swift resolution to prevent further escalation.
The leaders highlighted the importance of Wike’s intervention and urged him to engage in finding a peaceful solution to avoid exacerbating the situation.
