Governor Diri, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also criticized Chief Timipre Sylva, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of being opposed to development and progress.

During the Ogbia Constituency 2 rally at Otuokpoti, following campaign stops in the riverine communities of Anyama-Ogbia and Emadike, Governor Diri revealed that the opposition intended to deploy thugs to disrupt the peace in Anyama-Ogbia.

He stated, “This is a battle between those who support development and those who oppose it, between light and darkness.

We are advocating for your development as individuals and communities. Let it be known that in Anyama, where our support is strong, they plan to bring in non-local youths, dress them in military uniforms, and foment violence with the cooperation of a few locals. The world and the military should take note.”
