Bella-Sheggz Saga: BBNaija Star Breaks Silence, Reveals What Really Happened In Their Relationship
BBNaija star Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, has denied allegations that he abused or cheated on his former partner and fellow reality TV star, Bella Okagbue.
Sheggz, in a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, confirmed that his relationship with Bella ended in January 2026.
The reality star explained that he had genuinely envisioned a future with Bella and had even purchased an engagement ring before their relationship eventually ended.
According to him, events that unfolded after he returned to Nigeria in October 2025 caused him to question the level of honesty and trust in their relationship.
Sheggz said he had deliberately avoided discussing the matter publicly out of respect for his family, but decided to address the allegations after what he described as attempts to damage his reputation.
He also stressed that he had been single since January 2026 and had no intention of engaging in a public dispute with Bella or her family.
In his statement, Sheggz said:
“I have never spoken publicly on the internet out of respect for my family, and it simply isn’t my nature to do so. However, after four years of working hard to build my life and my reputation, I feel it is only fair to clarify my position rather than allow my name or character to be unfairly tarnished.
“I am a man who values family, friendship, integrity and my faith. I am a brother, a friend to many and most importantly, I know the values I stand for. I am not an abuser. For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella, and I have been single since January 2026.”
Sheggz further disclosed that much of 2025 was challenging for him as he spent considerable time receiving medical treatment.
He said that after recovering in England, he returned to Nigeria in October 2025, where he allegedly came across information that raised questions about the honesty within his relationship.
“Much of 2025 was an extremely difficult period for me as I spent a significant amount of time in and out of the hospital. I am genuinely grateful to be alive after everything I experienced,” he said.
According to Sheggz, he had given several opportunities since 2024 for certain issues to be addressed, but he was ultimately left disappointed.
He said the situation was particularly difficult because he genuinely loved Bella and had hoped they would eventually build a life together.
“It was difficult for me to process, particularly because I had loved Bella deeply and genuinely hoped we would spend our lives together. I also struggled with how the situation was handled, and at times, I felt there was not the level of remorse or understanding I had hoped for,” he stated.
Sheggz said the relationship officially ended in January 2026, although the pair made attempts to reconcile afterwards.
However, he explained that he eventually decided he could not overlook what he described as trust and respect issues when considering marriage.
“The relationship ended in January 2026. We tried to reconcile afterwards, but ultimately I concluded there were issues of trust and respect that I could not overlook when considering marriage,” he said.
He added that he believed marriage should be founded on honesty, mutual respect and effective communication.
Despite the eventual breakup, Sheggz said he had made serious plans for their future and had gone as far as buying an engagement ring.
“I genuinely wanted the relationship to work. I even went as far as purchasing a ring because I believed in the possibility of a future together,” he revealed.
The BBNaija star acknowledged that Bella’s family might have their own perspective on the situation but said he had sincerely tried to make the relationship work.
Sheggz concluded by ruling out any public confrontation with Bella or her family, saying he preferred to move forward peacefully.
“I have no desire for hostility or public back-and-forth. I want to move forward peacefully with dignity and respect for everyone involved. I wish Bella nothing but the best in life, and I hope we can all eventually move on with grace,” he said.
