Dr. Hwande explained that the initiative aims to alleviate the challenges pensioners face in accessing healthcare, offering free cards, consultations, treatments, and free bed space for admitted patients.

Additionally, he highlighted a significant achievement at the hospital—a successful IVF procedure resulting in the birth of three baby boys from two mothers, with other women undergoing various stages of the process. This achievement is supported by the Benue State Government, which has subsidized the IVF procedure, significantly reducing the cost to N400,000.

Dr. Hwande commended Governor Alia for his dedication to healthcare development, noting the governor’s commitment to providing N20 billion for BSUTH out of the total N82 billion allocated for medical services in the 2025 Benue budget. He also praised the governor for settling inherited debts and approving a new salary structure aligned with other teaching hospitals nationwide.
