Benue Tension: Governor Alia Breaks Silence On Alleged Plot To Sack Speaker

In a statement released on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor insisted he had no knowledge of any move to unseat the Speaker, stressing that such speculations are baseless.
“The attention of the Government House, Makurdi, has been drawn to rumours suggesting a plot to remove the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly. It is important to clarify that Governor Hyacinth Alia is neither aware of nor involved in any such scheme,” the statement read.
Governor Alia reiterated his deep respect for the legislature, the rule of law, and the principle of separation of powers, noting that he has always responded to communications and resolutions from the Assembly.
Kula further pointed out that this respect was evident just days ago when the governor promptly implemented key resolutions forwarded by the Assembly.
He added that Governor Alia continues to maintain a cordial and productive working relationship with the Speaker and lawmakers, assuring that his administration remains committed to supporting the Assembly in fulfilling its legislative responsibilities for the progress of Benue State.
