The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has urged members of the State House of Assembly to throw their full weight behind his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Bello, who handed over power in January 2024 after completing his two-term tenure, made the appeal in a 29-second video now making the rounds on social media.
In the footage, the former governor was seen addressing lawmakers and their supporters, charging them to stand firmly with Speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf and other members of the Assembly to ensure smooth collaboration with the executive, even if they may not fully grasp every decision.
“Sit down. So, are you going in there now… Go and cooperate with the Speaker, other members of the House of Assembly of Kogi State, and be part of those that will support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in everything that comes to the Assembly,” Bello said in part.
His remarks were met with applause from the lawmakers, signaling approval of his call for unity and cooperation.
Bello’s intervention comes as political watchers in Kogi closely monitor how Governor Ododo consolidates power and manages ties with the state legislature.
