In a statement personally signed on Saturday, Kwankwaso said the President’s decision has inspired renewed confidence among APC members and supporters across Northern Nigeria, particularly following the submission of the Tinubu-Shettima nomination forms to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.

He noted that the move has effectively silenced speculations that President Tinubu would replace Shettima ahead of the 2027 polls, stressing that the Vice President’s retention represents a positive development for both the APC and the Northern region.

Kwankwaso stated that Shettima has consistently demonstrated commitment to fostering unity across the North despite efforts by certain individuals to sow discord. He also praised the Vice President for his steadfast support of the Tinubu administration and his representation of the President at various international engagements.

Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, the APC stalwart said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket is well-positioned to attract overwhelming support from Northern voters during the 2027 general election. He further argued that the decision would not only strengthen the party’s presidential bid but also improve the chances of APC candidates seeking governorship, National Assembly and other elective positions across the region.

Kwankwaso maintained that retaining Shettima is a strategic move that will consolidate the APC’s support base in the North while enhancing the party’s overall electoral performance in the forthcoming elections.
