According to Naija News, Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border during passport checks on Monday, October 21. An immigration source informed Premium Times that he was arrested around midnight, held until the following morning, and then transferred to the Lagos zone of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ikeja.

In related news, the Federal Government’s investigative panel examining the circumstances surrounding Bobrisky’s jail sentence has released its findings. Naija News recalls that on September 30, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, established the panel, chaired by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalena Ajani, to look into “Alleged Corruption & Other Violations Against the Nigerian Correctional Service.”

This investigation was prompted by a video shared by the controversial activist VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky purportedly claimed to have bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials to drop a money laundering charge against him. The video also features a voice allegedly belonging to Bobrisky, claiming that a “godfather” and Haliru Nababa, the controller general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), ensured he served his six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison.

During a presentation of the panel’s phase one report at the Ministry of Interior on Monday, Uju Agomoh, executive director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), stated that the panel found no evidence that Bobrisky spent time outside prison after his sentencing, although he did enjoy certain privileges.
