One attendant, Malam Musa, reported that the victims were killed in an explosion. “As I speak to you now, they are still lying in a pool of their blood,” he said, adding, “I nearly got affected, but fortunately, I escaped unscathed.”
Another source, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed the deaths resulted from stray bullets rather than an explosion. “I was across the street when it happened. There was no blast, just sporadic gunfire, and the boys went down. Four of them died instantly,” he explained.
In response to the violence, the Borno State Police have imposed a curfew following a separate bomb blast in Kawuri village, Konduga Local Government Area, which killed 19 people.
