Bovi Makes Strong Parenting Statement After Son Destroyed Three Television Sets

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi has spoken against beating children as a form of discipline, urging parents to examine their emotions and intentions before punishing their children.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Bovi made the remarks while speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he opened up about his experience raising his son and dealing with his behaviour as a child.

The comedian revealed that his son had a habit of breaking objects whenever he became angry and disclosed that the boy had destroyed at least three television sets while growing up.

Bovi said that despite the behaviour, he did not believe in beating children and instead allowed his son to go through the phase while observing his actions and waiting for him to develop a sense of remorse.

He explained that his financial capacity enabled him to replace the damaged television sets, although he acknowledged that his response might have been different if he could not afford to buy replacements.

Bovi also encouraged parents to reflect on their reasons for physically disciplining their children, stressing that anger or frustration can sometimes influence how adults respond to misbehaviour.

The comedian questioned whether parents who hit their children are genuinely trying to correct them or simply reacting out of frustration.

His comments have sparked conversations about parenting and the various approaches families adopt when dealing with difficult behaviour in children. Bovi’s perspective also emphasized the importance of understanding children’s actions while ensuring that discipline does not become an outlet for parental anger.
