The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, has reportedly passed away.

Solomon was said to have collapsed during an APC reconciliation meeting held in Iyara, the headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area.

According to TVC, the party chairman slumped on Friday while attending a meeting organised by a former Ijumu Local Government Chairman, Funsho Olumoko.

The meeting was convened as part of efforts to resolve internal differences among APC members and strengthen unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources at the gathering said Solomon suddenly collapsed while the meeting was in progress, leaving other participants shocked and confused.

He was reportedly given immediate assistance in an attempt to revive him before being taken to a hospital in Kabba. However, he was said to have died shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

The meeting was part of broader efforts by APC stakeholders in Ijumu to settle internal disputes and build greater cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier in August, APC stakeholders in the local government had met in Iyara, where they endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo for another term in office.

The stakeholders also appealed for greater unity among party members. However, the earlier meeting was reportedly marred by disagreements over the leadership of the local government, with Solomon and some other party officials said to have walked out of the gathering.
