The deputy governor allegedly collapsed in his office around 1:30 pm and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Born on September 5, 1965, Ewhrudjakpo was 60 years old. Sources close to Government House described him as a “workaholic” who maintained a demanding schedule with minimal rest.
According to Sahara Reporters, the deputy governor was in critical condition as he was transferred from his office to the hospital’s emergency unit. A family source confirmed that he was pronounced dead soon after reaching the facility.
Following the incident, security personnel cordoned off the Federal Medical Centre, while senior state government officials visited the hospital to pay their respects. Efforts to reach his media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo’s passing represents a major loss for Bayelsa State, where he played a key role in governance and public service. The state government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
