Nasarawa Police Shake-Up: Ahmed-Chuso Sworn In As New Commissioner Of Police

The Nasarawa State Police Command has officially welcomed Umar Ahmed-Chuso as the state’s 30th Commissioner of Police.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ahmed-Chuso takes over from Shetima Mohammed, who has been redeployed to the Police Staff College in Jos as Deputy Commandant, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Rahman Nansel, highlighted Ahmed-Chuso’s extensive operational experience, administrative expertise, and strong professional track record, which he brings to his new role.

Nansel added that the new CP has called on residents to maintain close cooperation with the police to strengthen ongoing efforts to curb crime and enhance security throughout Nasarawa State.

A native of Sokoto South Local Government Area, Sokoto State, Ahmed-Chuso holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He joined the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet ASP, completing his training at the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

Throughout his career, Ahmed-Chuso has held numerous key positions, including Deputy Commandant at the Police Staff College, Jos; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) and (CID) in Kano; and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Delta State. He also served as DPO in several divisions and was the pioneer Area Commander of Argungu in Kebbi State.

His experience extends to postings with the Force CID (Interpol) Abuja, Divisional Crime Officer, Officer-in-Charge of Pay, and as Directing Staff at the Police College in Kaduna.

Ahmed-Chuso has attended multiple national and international courses, including Tactical Leadership and Combat, Citizenship and Leadership Training, Higher Military Strategy at the Army War College in Abuja, and Protection of Human Rights at Texas Southern University, Houston. He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Police Studies.

Nansel said the new CP has appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organizations, and religious groups to collaborate with the police by providing timely information, helping prevent crime and ensuring rapid responses to threats.

He assured the public of the Command’s renewed commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting property, and maintaining peace across Nasarawa State.
