A source at the Defence Headquarters revealed that President Tinubu expressed relief and joy upon hearing from Lagbaja, who maintained a positive spirit during their conversation. “The president was very happy and prayed fervently for his quick recovery,” the source noted.

The Nigerian Army Headquarters has also dismissed the rumors as “fake news.” These claims were initially sparked by a social media post from Jackson Ude, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, who incorrectly stated that Lagbaja had died of cancer in a foreign hospital.

Army officials quickly refuted these allegations, confirming that Lagbaja is recuperating and in good spirits. Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, stated that Lagbaja had traveled abroad for medical checkups and emphasized that this is a standard procedure for public officials.
