BREAKING: Cost Of Refilling Cooking Gas Skyrockets — Nigerians React
A recent market survey shows that the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), popularly known as cooking gas, is gradually declining across major retail outlets in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to the findings, Conoil now sells LPG at ₦1,080 per kilogram, while AP offers the product at ₦1,000 per kilogram.
This drop comes just weeks after the commodity sold for as high as ₦1,500 per kg, as marketers attributed the spike to old stock purchased at elevated prices.
The current reduction has raised hopes among consumers that cooking gas prices will continue on a downward trend, especially at a time when many households are battling rising living expenses.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has directed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to step up monitoring of LPG depots to curb hoarding.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, explained that the recent surge in prices was largely due to:
-
The PENGASSAN strike at the Dangote Refinery, and
-
Ongoing maintenance at the NLNG Train 4 facility, which reduced domestic supply.
However, he assured Nigerians that supply constraints are easing.
