The terror group attacked the Sabon Gari FOB at 4 a.m. on Saturday, employing multiple weapons. The assault lasted for more than two hours, and so far, we’ve recovered over seven bodies,” a source informed SaharaReporters on Monday.

During the attack, the insurgents set fire to several buildings and destroyed military vehicles, leaving extensive damage behind.

This attack underscores the growing influence of ISWAP in the region, especially after the death of Boko Haram’s former leader, Abubakar Shekau. Following Shekau’s death, ISWAP has solidified its presence around Lake Chad, attracting defectors and expanding its operational reach.

The Nigerian Army has pledged its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, as ISWAP continues to kill and displace thousands, particularly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
