Okocha Sets The Record Straight: ‘It Will Never Happen’ – Denies Joining Fubara’s Camp
Tony Okocha, the factional Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has refuted claims that he visited the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo, after a photo of the two of them surfaced online.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The image sparked speculation that Okocha had met with Ihunwo to discuss joining forces with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s camp.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Media, Vincent Gbosi, Okocha dismissed the rumors as “cheap and infantile propaganda” orchestrated by political novices and spread by their misguided followers on social media. He also claimed the photo was manipulated and urged the public to ignore the false allegations.
The statement read: “The individuals behind this baseless allegation fabricated a story using a photoshopped image of Sir (Chief) Tony C. Okocha, DSSRS, JP, the APC Chairman in Rivers State and the Rivers State Representative in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
“These clueless individuals, clearly lacking ideas, falsely claimed that Sir (Chief) Tony C. Okocha paid a ‘courtesy visit’ to Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA. While we would have ignored this baseless story, we must respond to clear the air for the public, especially the gullible ones.
“We want to categorically state that this publication circulating on social media is not only false and fabricated, but also defamatory. It is an ill-fated attempt to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Sir (Chief) Tony C. Okocha and to bring his good name into disrepute. It is a non-starter.
“It is completely illogical, inconceivable, and disrespectful for anyone in their right mind to suggest that Sir (Chief) Tony C. Okocha would pay a ‘courtesy visit’ to Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, a political novice, for any reason.
“Sir (Chief) Tony C. Okocha is a man of integrity. Given his impressive track record, it is clear that individuals like Chijioke Ihunwo, desperate for attention, may try to use his name for publicity.
“The public is urged to disregard this false information, as it never happened and will never happen.”
