Notably, Gabon’s unexpected upheaval was a mere few weeks after Burkina Faso experienced a similar fate. The rapid succession of these coups in the West African region and its environs has sent shockwaves across the continent, prompting leaders to rethink their internal security strategies.
Cameroon, under the leadership of Paul Biya for over four decades, has navigated through numerous political challenges. The recent geopolitical shifts seem to have pushed the 89-year-old leader to act decisively, ensuring that his nation remains insulated from potential threats.
