Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, launched the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem on Monday, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of both serving and retired personnel. The emblem launch, held at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, also saw the governor contribute N10 million to the Legionnaires.

During the event, Governor Abiodun urged Nigerians to extend their support and compassion to the families of fallen heroes, emphasizing the enduring sacrifices made by these families. He pledged to address the accommodation needs of the Legionnaires and assured them of a fitting structure for their use.

“As we celebrate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, let us also remember the families of these fallen heroes,” the governor stated. “We must continue to extend our support and care to these families, ensuring that they are never forgotten and are provided with the necessary assistance and opportunities to lead fulfilling lives.”

Highlighting the resilience of military families, Abiodun underscored his administration’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of both active and retired personnel. He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Armed Forces for their dedication and selflessness in safeguarding peace and unity.

Governor Abiodun further committed to ongoing collaboration with the armed forces to address security challenges in the state. He emphasized the administration’s dedication to providing essential support and resources to enable the armed forces to fulfill their duties effectively.

Master Warrant Officer Orukotan Olumuyiwa (rtd), the state Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, acknowledged the rise in widows and orphans in need of care due to security challenges. He commended the state government’s efforts to reposition the economy and called for collective action to alleviate the hardships faced by the families of fallen heroes.
