The unanimous decision by the three-member panel of Justices, led by Justice Jummai Hannatu Sankey, dismissed the appeal filed by Chukwuma Ifeanyi Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on grounds of lacking merit.
All five issues raised by the PDP candidate were resolved in favor of Nwifuru. Justice Sankey, delivering the lead judgment, emphasized that the PDP and its candidate had no legal standing to interfere in the internal matters of the APC concerning candidate nominations for elections.
Nwifuru, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, secured victory with 199,131 votes, defeating Ifeanyi Odii of the PDP, who garnered 80,191 votes.
Bernard Odoh, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), came in third with 52,189 votes in the March 18 governorship election.
