The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka-Eze Aka, revealed this information in a statement issued in Enugu and shared with the media on Monday.

This development contradicts the earlier statement by the Commissioner for Works, Gerald Otiji, who, during a post-State Executive Council meeting news briefing on December 25, announced the reopening of one lane to alleviate traffic during the Yuletide celebrations.

Aka clarified that the bridge would not be reopened as previously indicated. He emphasized that, based on the expert advice received, the bridge must undergo a series of integrity tests upon completion to ensure it is safe for public use.
