Expressing delight at being at NBC, Mrs. Uzoka-Anite acknowledged the company’s significant 70-year history in Nigeria. She underscored that the visit aligned with the President’s agenda to promote industrialization in the country. The minister emphasized the government’s determination to create favorable conditions for businesses to thrive, reduce poverty, and support economic growth through appropriate fiscal policies.
During the visit, Mrs. Uzoka-Anite, accompanied by the Managing Director, Goran Sladic, and other key members of NBC’s leadership, toured the impressive 110,000 m² facility, recognized as Africa’s largest bottling plant.
Recognizing the crucial role of the real sector in sustainable economic development, the minister engaged with the NBC team on vital issues influencing the manufacturing landscape in Nigeria. She reiterated the ministry’s commitment to fostering open dialogue and collaboration with private sector stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in driving economic prosperity.
In response, NBC’s Managing Director expressed appreciation for hosting the minister and commended the government’s commitment to engaging with industry stakeholders. He conveyed optimism about the discussions, considering them a significant step toward building a more resilient and sustainable industry. The Managing Director pledged NBC’s eagerness to contribute to ongoing dialogues and initiatives.
Reflecting on the past decade, Sladic highlighted NBC’s unwavering dedication to placing consumers at the core of its operations. He outlined the company’s substantial $1.32 billion investment in enhancing operational capacity, revolutionizing the supply chain infrastructure, and providing extensive training to the workforce. Beyond products, NBC has focused on community initiatives, empowering women and youth, championing water stewardship, and promoting environmental sustainability and efficient waste management.
As NBC marks its 70th anniversary, Sladic reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in Nigerian operations. He expressed optimism that favorable business conditions would strengthen capabilities and facilitate further investments in the future.
