In the aftermath of the accidental air strike in the Igabi council area of the North-West state, which claimed the lives of eighty-five people and left numerous others injured, President Bola Tinubu ordered a comprehensive investigation. General Musa, speaking on behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, assured the public that accountability would be upheld.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria is solidly behind the government and Nigeria. Our mandate is to defend democracy, and we will continue to do that. So, nobody should have any fear. We would make amends after the committee [to probe the matter] has come up [with its report]. Anybody who is found culpable will face the music,” stated General Musa.

The Defence Chief emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation into the accidental military airstrike in Kaduna. He pledged transparency, asserting that the findings would be made public once the inquiry is concluded.

“We are sincere, we are fair, we are impartial. We want to know what actually happened so that we can make amends. I can assure you that nothing will be swept under the carpet,” General Musa assured.

Expressing regret for the airstrike, General Musa conveyed the Army’s deep remorse, clarifying that the incident was not intentional.

“Anytime we have mistakes, we take ownership and we feel extremely very bad about it, especially when we lose our troops in war,” he acknowledged. General Musa called for continued support from Nigerians, urging them to understand that the incident was not deliberate.

“We should not, by our actions or utterances, demoralize our troops. These guys stay awake so you can sleep. It is easier for you to say they made a mistake; they’re not doing well. If they pull out of these locations, what happens? We will not even have a country,” General Christopher Musa concluded.
