Managed by the state government through its Project Implementation Unit and bolstered by World Bank support, the project’s objective is to amplify the productivity, resilience, and commercialization of targeted value chains. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the nation’s capability to respond effectively to potential crises or emergencies.
During an address to stakeholders in Adogo, the headquarters of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, the State Project Coordinator, Olufemi Bolarin, represented by the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Omojo Akuh, underscored the significance of the sensitization initiative in fostering understanding, collaboration, and harnessing opportunities within the project.
Bolarin emphasized that the project, upon full implementation, would result in heightened productivity, increased resilience, and the advancement of commercial livestock activities. He urged the cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure the seamless and efficient implementation of the project for the betterment and prosperity of the state.
The Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Akaba Mustapha, represented by Momoh Sani Salami, the Local Government Supervisor for Health, expressed appreciation for the initiative and pledged maximum security and necessary support for the project implementation unit.
During the sensitization visit, Alhaji Isa Abdullahi, the Head of Fulani in Ajaokuta, and Joseph Enesi, the Chairman of the Poultry Association in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, lauded the government’s efforts. They advocated for the comprehensive inclusion of their respective groups among the beneficiaries, highlighting the potential positive impact on the community.
In his contribution, the Project Extension Officer, Mr. Daniel Okpanachi, stressed the importance of accurate mapping and profiling, emphasizing the need for livestock farmers’ active participation in the exercise. He highlighted that the project’s success heavily relies on the number of successfully mapped and profiled beneficiaries.
The Gender-Based Violence Specialist, Sarah Amanebo, underscored the necessity for adequate representation of women in the project. She encouraged women in the livestock business to leverage the project to enhance their standard of living.
