Breaking News: Phyna’s Family Hit by Tragedy As Sister Dies In Dangote Truck Accident
A graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, Ruth Otabor, sister to reality TV star Ijeoma Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has sadly passed away.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Phyna confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement shared via her Instagram page on Sunday. The family appealed to the public to respect their privacy as they grieve their loss.
The statement read:
“We remain solicitors to Ruth Otabor, Josephine Otabor (known as Phyna), and the Otabor family, and on their instruction, we make this announcement.
With heavy hearts, the family regrets to announce the passing to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on the 31st of August, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m.
The family is presently grieving and kindly requests privacy during this painful period. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.”
Recall that Ruth was involved in a tragic accident on August 13, 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, when she was hit by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an underage and unlicensed driver. She lost a leg in the incident, after which Phyna began demanding justice and accountability from the Dangote Group.
Though the company initially pledged to fully support Ruth’s treatment, including flying her abroad for further medical care, Phyna alleged they later reneged on the promise.
