The gathering at the INEC headquarters, where members of political parties had convened to inspect election materials as directed by the Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja, took a violent turn.
Some party supporters attempted to disrupt the process by chanting war songs and issuing threats to set fire to the INEC office, aiming to make the state ungovernable.
These individuals, seemingly influenced by the effects of hard drugs, vociferously declared their opposition to allowing the electoral materials to be moved to the tribunal, asserting that the ruling All Progressives Congress had compromised the integrity of the process.
Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, played a crucial role in quelling the disturbance and maintaining order.
