This confirmation was announced by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, following the NEC meeting held on Monday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking to journalists after the high-level meeting, Damagum stated, “Let it be clear that the NEC has affirmed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of our great party.”
He noted that the endorsement was among the major decisions taken during the closed-door session, which brought together key stakeholders from across the party’s national structure.
Anyanwu’s affirmation comes amid heightened tension within the PDP, as rival factions had previously laid conflicting claims to the secretary position, creating uncertainty and discord within the party.
The development follows a dramatic scene earlier in the day, when security operatives forcefully removed two individuals from the PDP NEC Hall at Wadata Plaza, Abuja. The PDP caucus meeting scheduled at the venue was thrown into disarray as protocol officers insisted the ejected individuals were not authorized to attend.
