The state received a shipment of 17,400 bags of rice (each weighing 50kg) from the Federal Government for distribution across the region.

Following a meeting held in Ughelli, the Forum issued a communiqué expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for initiating the palliative program.

However, they alleged that the Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had manipulated the distribution process by appointing only PDP members to oversee the program at various levels.

The statement was endorsed by key figures within the Forum, including Godwin Ogbetuo (Chairman), Morrison Olori (Patron), Tony Uti (Deputy Chairman), Roland Kemefa (Secretary), S.S. Osia (Legal Adviser), and J.F. Daubry (Chairman, Communique Committee).

The Forum acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s palliative program as a response to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal in the petroleum sector, which have significantly impacted the living conditions of Nigerian citizens, particularly those in Delta State.

The Forum expressed deep disappointment at what they perceived as the politicization and mismanagement of Mr. President’s efforts by the PDP-led Delta State administration.

They noted that only members of the PDP were appointed to monitor and oversee the distribution of palliatives at the state, local government, and ward levels, deliberately excluding APC members from both the committees and the benefits of the palliatives.

Despite facing intimidation, physical harm, unlawful arrests with baseless charges, and deprivation by the PDP-led administration in Delta State, the Forum commended the resilience of APC members in the state.
