During the inspection, Senator Umahi was joined by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi from Ebonyi Central Zone, officials from the Federal Ministry of Works, contractors, and other ministry officials.
Senator Umahi also mentioned that an integrity test would be carried out on the part of the bridge that remained intact, determining if it could potentially serve as an alternative route on the expressway in light of the bridge’s collapse.
Furthermore, Senator Umahi assured that President Bola Tinubu would swiftly intervene to address the situation concerning the damaged bridge.
Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the Minister of Works for his prompt response to the situation and highlighted the President’s commitment to leading with compassion and an all-inclusive approach to governance.
Governor Mbah emphasized the significance of the affected road as a major gateway and the need for swift action. He commended the federal government for their quick response and expressed hope that a solution would be found to allow at least one section of the bridge to accommodate the local population.
