Tensions reportedly escalated when a group of aggrieved youths stormed the office of party chieftain Samson Okwu, accusing him of collaborating with Tiv political interests to block the Idoma bloc from securing the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

The protesters, who carried placards and sang solidarity songs, warned against any attempt to sideline the Idoma people in the party’s zoning arrangement, insisting that Benue South deserves the opportunity to produce the party’s candidate.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, has yet to publicly comment on the situation, a silence that has further deepened tension and speculation within the party’s ranks.

The crisis reportedly worsened in Okpokwu Local Government Area after the alleged abduction of the local ADC chairman by unidentified persons. In response, armed police officers were deployed to the party secretariat in Okpoga to restore order and prevent further escalation as fear spread among members.

In a related development, Ejembi Adaje has called for the outright cancellation of the party’s primary election in the Enone area, alleging widespread irregularities and insisting that the exercise did not reflect the genuine will of party members.
