During this year’s Christmas Carol organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani assured the public that the era of religious and ethnic differences in the state is now a thing of the past. The governor, speaking on the theme “Celebrating the Prince of Peace,” emphasized his commitment to fairness and inclusivity for all residents, regardless of their religious or tribal affiliations.
Governor Sani took the opportunity to reiterate his oath to the people of Kaduna, stating, “I will be fair to everyone irrespective of any difference of religion or tribe.” He stressed the importance of restoring peace to every part of the state and emphasized the unity of the people, whether Christian or Muslim, belonging to any tribe. The governor pledged to eliminate discrimination and ensure that all citizens and regions benefit from the state’s development initiatives.
In his address, Governor Sani outlined his plans for widespread development, advocating for the construction of roads in all parts of the state to benefit the entire populace. He highlighted the upcoming budget, named “Rural Transformation and Inclusive Development,” as a testament to his commitment to even development, particularly in rural areas.
Expressing concern about the high poverty levels in the state, Governor Sani acknowledged that about 75% of the citizens are living below the poverty line. He promised to collaborate with religious and community leaders to implement programs aimed at uplifting the common man and making a significant impact on their lives.
The state CAN chairman, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, expressed gratitude for the governor’s unhesitant attendance at the Christmas Carol. Hayab believed that if Governor Sani translates his words into action, it will contribute to healing wounds, fostering unity, peace, and development that the people have long yearned for in the state. He emphasized the transformative power of unity, stating that the governor’s presence at the event has the potential to open a new chapter in the state, promoting love and unity over divisions based on religion and tribe.
