On Tuesday, Tinubu announced the award of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) to Akpabio and Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere Ekun. In contrast, Abbas and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau received the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).
During a session on Wednesday, Representative Philip Agbese moved a motion of urgent public importance, leading the House to assert that they are not inferior to Senators and that both leaders should be treated equally. The motion, supported by 360 members of the House, called for the elimination of the “upper chamber and lower chamber” terminology, emphasizing that both chambers hold equal status.
