Akin explained that the delay in implementing the resolution passed on July 18, 2024, was due to necessary administrative procedures and coordination with financial institutions. He assured that instructions for adjusting salaries had been issued and would be enforced to ensure the pledge is fully met.

Akin addressed media reports claiming discrepancies in members’ salaries, specifically alleging they received ₦936,979 for July. He clarified that the actual monthly salary for members is ₦600,000 after deductions for advances like housing, which are paid at the start of their tenure.

He acknowledged that the resolution was not implemented as planned for July due to bureaucratic delays. The resolution was formally adopted on July 23, following the votes and proceedings of plenary.

Akin also stated that there was no need for investigation into the matter, as the House had already provided clarification to journalists. He noted that the member who displayed his salary on television was an exception, having assumed office through a court decision long after the onboarding process had concluded.
