This arrest follows the suspension of Ibadin by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who vowed to ensure swift justice for those responsible for the tragic incident. Sources suggest that Ibadin, a native of Uromi, may have been aware of unauthorized vigilante groups operating in the area but failed to take action.

His alleged failure to intervene has raised concerns that he may have either overlooked or even tacitly supported the activities of these rogue groups.

Governor Okpebholo has taken a strong stance, instructing security agencies to leave no stone unturned in apprehending all those involved in the killings, emphasizing, “No one is above the law.”

A senior official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed to Vanguard that Ibadin’s arrest was part of a wider investigation into the killings. The official added that the state government is committed to ensuring justice is served and that all those responsible will be held accountable.
