The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Imo State has affirmed Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected Governor. The tribunal, sitting in Abuja, also dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Athan Achonu. Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, delivering the unanimous decision of the three-man panel, stated that Uzodimma’s victory complied substantially with the Electoral Act. The tribunal found the LP’s petition lacking in evidence to substantiate claims of over-voting and non-compliance with electoral laws. More details to follow.
