According to an official statement released on Sunday, May 12, 2024, the Army disclosed that troops successfully liberated 17 abducted victims in Katsina State and an additional two in Zamfara.

Detailing the operation, the statement highlighted a swift response by troops to a distress call from Danzara Village, Kanoma District, situated within the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The distress call reported the abduction of two locals by violent extremists.

Demonstrating remarkable agility, the troops swiftly mobilized and pursued the kidnappers, who had commandeered their victims in a red Golf car. A confrontation ensued, compelling the kidnappers to abandon their captives unharmed and flee the scene.

Similarly, in Katsina State’s Solar General Area of Batsari Local Government Area, troops promptly reacted to reports of an abduction incident. Engaging the terrorists in a fierce firefight, the troops succeeded in forcing the assailants to abandon 17 hostages. These individuals were subsequently safely returned to the custody of Batsari Local Government authorities.
