Authorities suspect that Richards fell victim to robbery, as her property was reportedly ransacked. Law enforcement officials indicated no other signs of violence on her body.
Richards gained prominence for her supporting role in the 1973 British film “Black Snake,” shot in Barbados. Initially launching her career on stage, she later transitioned to television, appearing in notable productions such as “The Onedin Line,” “Return of the Saint,” and “Howard’s Way.”
Local police have initiated an investigation subsequent to the discovery of her body earlier this week by a caregiver. A friend, alarmed by her inability to contact Richards since Tuesday evening, March 5, went to check on her and found the gate closed upon arrival. After finding the front door slightly ajar, the friend entered and eventually stumbled upon Richards’ lifeless body on the bedroom floor.
According to barrister Sir Timothy Cassel KC, who was acquainted with Richards, the circumstances surrounding her death raise questions about her vulnerability and potential manipulation by perpetrators. Security camera footage was also compromised, as the hard drive containing recordings was reportedly stolen.
Shocked acquaintances struggled to comprehend the tragic news, reflecting on Richards’ character as a warm, engaging individual. Concerns were raised about her living alone, suggesting she may have been perceived as an easy target.
A family member, choosing to remain anonymous, disclosed that Richards had recently returned to Trinidad in January after spending time in England and Europe. Described as an avid traveler and shopper, Richards’ relative declined to delve into specifics regarding her demise but noted the absence of certain pieces of jewelry from her residence.
Having held both Trinidadian and British citizenships, Richards moved to the UK with her family at the age of six in the early 1950s. Following her retirement from acting, she resettled in Trinidad, embracing her dual cultural heritage.
