Businessman Claims He Paid N5m For Legal ProtectionIn a newly released voice note, controversial cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, claimed to have paid N5 million upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in a bid to secure a Federal Government pardon for money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky revealed that the SAN initially demanded N10 million for the pardon but he was unable to raise the full amount because his account had been frozen by the EFCC. This was disclosed in a video shared by popular social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, on Monday, October 7, 2024. The call recording was said to have taken place on May 16, 2024.

Bobrisky explained that his godfather came to his aid by paying the initial N5 million but was hesitant to ask for more assistance as his godfather had already arranged a well-furnished apartment near the prison for him. Contrary to public belief, Bobrisky confirmed he was not in prison. He stated, “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’”

Bobrisky added that his godfather negotiated with a Deputy Controller in the Nigerian Correctional Service, ensuring he would not be incarcerated as long as he remained out of the public eye. He elaborated, “Let the world think that, but you will never. They agreed to let me stay nearby, and I can come inside to see people and welcome my family, but nobody needs to know.”

The cross-dresser also mentioned that efforts were underway to secure a pardon that would allow for an earlier release. “I’m supposed to finish my sentence by July, but if we get the amnesty, I could leave by the first week of next month. The SAN asked for N10 million, which I would have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request.”

He further disclosed that the Nigerian Correctional Service was concerned about placing him in a male facility due to potential harassment risks, leading to the alternative living arrangement.

This revelation comes after Bobrisky previously alleged that EFCC operatives had demanded and received N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him. He also claimed that his godfather, in collaboration with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, had arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment instead of prison. Additionally, Bobrisky alleged that human rights lawyer Femi Falana was involved in seeking a presidential pardon for him in exchange for N10 million.
