Cabinet Shake-Up: Bala Mohammed Swears In Four New Commissioners
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has sworn in four new commissioners as part of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at filling vacancies created by the exit of former members of the State Executive Council.
The newly inaugurated commissioners are Madaki Ahmad Gololo, Bashir Yau, Bashir Adamu Rishi and Baraya Ibrahim.
The appointments followed the departure of some commissioners who left the cabinet to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, while others either resigned or were removed from office.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Mohammed said the appointments were necessary to ensure continued representation of the affected local government areas in the State Executive Council.
He stressed, however, that merit, competence, experience and commitment to public service were the major considerations in selecting the new commissioners.
The governor urged the appointees to familiarise themselves quickly with government policies and work closely with permanent secretaries and other civil servants to ensure effective service delivery.
Mohammed also charged them to uphold integrity, transparency, accountability and due process in the discharge of their responsibilities, warning that both the government and members of the public would closely monitor their performance.
He cautioned the commissioners against actions capable of bringing the administration into disrepute and urged them to manage public resources responsibly.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements since taking office in 2019, the governor said Bauchi State had recorded notable progress in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply, security, youth empowerment and skills development.
As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Madaki Ahmad Gololo was assigned to the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, while Bashir Yau was posted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Bashir Adamu Rishi was appointed Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, while Baraya Ibrahim will head the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment.
Governor Mohammed also announced the redeployment of Adamu Babayo Gabarin to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, and Muhammad Hamisu Shira to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
He further confirmed that Hassan Eliyakub and Usman Usman would continue overseeing the Ministries of Local Government and Water Resources, respectively.
Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, Baraya Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their commitment to supporting the administration’s development agenda.
He assured residents that the commissioners would work collectively to promote transparency, accountability and the effective implementation of government programmes while seeking the continued support and cooperation of the people of Bauchi State.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the success of the new commissioners, the progress of Bauchi State and the continued development of Nigeria.
