Call From KACRAN: Livestock Feed Palliatives Needed For Pastoralists In Northern Regions....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has called on the 19 Northern States’ governments to acquire and distribute livestock feed to pastoralists as a form of palliative aid. This appeal follows the Federal Government’s allocation of N50 billion to the Pulaaku initiative, led by President Bola Tinubu, aimed at strengthening the livestock sector and improving conditions for Nigerian pastoralists.

KACRAN’s National President, Khalil Bello, highlighted the significance of the reappointment of North East Development Commission (NEDC) Management Board members, seeing it as a commitment to rehabilitating Boko Haram-devastated regions and providing ongoing support to affected communities.

Bello emphasized the importance of active participation by Northern State Governments in acquiring and distributing essential animal feed to pastoralists. He pointed out that President Tinubu’s administration has shown dedication to supporting the livestock sector for enhanced security in the Northern regions and the well-being of citizens.

KACRAN stressed the need to advocate for the welfare of the silent livestock population, which lacks the ability to communicate distress. The organization linked the repercussions of oil subsidy removal to the livestock sector, urging holistic palliative measures to ensure the health and upkeep of animals.

The scarcity of animal feed, exacerbated by culinary practices minimizing waste, was highlighted, and KACRAN called for recognizing livestock rights and privileges in alignment with those of humans. Drawing parallels with developed nations, the association advocated for governmental aid to support livestock welfare in Nigeria, particularly in the Northern region, a crucial livestock stronghold.
