Nigerian skit maker and content creator, Oderhowho Joseph Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, has lost his official TikTok account after the platform permanently banned the page over repeated violations of its community guidelines.

According to Bush Radio Academy, TikTok confirmed the enforcement action on Wednesday, citing multiple breaches of its policies by the account.

Before it was taken down, Carter Efe’s account had amassed more than 5.6 million followers and over 158 million likes, making it one of the entertainer’s biggest platforms for sharing comedy skits, promoting music and interacting with fans through live broadcasts.

The latest ban marks the second time the content creator has lost a major TikTok account. In June 2025, the platform removed another account belonging to Carter Efe, which reportedly had about 3.5 million followers at the time.

That earlier ban followed controversy surrounding remarks he made about Nigerian music star Wizkid during a livestream. Carter Efe subsequently apologised over the incident and returned to the platform, where he rebuilt his audience and eventually grew his replacement account to more than 5.6 million followers.

The latest enforcement has sparked reactions across social media, with fans expressing shock over the loss of an account that had taken years to build. Some users also raised concerns about the risks content creators face when they depend heavily on third-party platforms to maintain their audiences.

Despite the setback, Carter Efe remains active on other social media platforms and has continued to build his profile through comedy, music and livestreaming.

The development also comes shortly after the entertainer opened up about his decision to stop creating relationship-focused content with his former girlfriend. During a recent discussion on “Cocktails & Takeaways,” Carter Efe spoke about his past experiences creating content with his former partner and the challenges that came with mixing his personal relationship with his online career.

TikTok has not publicly disclosed the specific violations that led to the latest permanent ban, beyond citing repeated breaches of its community guidelines. (vanguardngr.com)
