In a statement issued through the Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Edward Gabkwet, Abubakar shared these details during a meeting with Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya. Gabkwet emphasized that Abubakar addressed the widespread destruction and violence during the protests, explaining that the heightened security was essential due to the disruption caused by rogue elements.

Governor Yahaya, in turn, praised the NAF 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group for their effective role in preventing looting and theft during the disturbances.
