Idimogu cautioned that if the ongoing crisis in Rivers State is not managed properly, Nigeria may struggle to meet its oil production quotas set by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). He accused Wike of exacerbating the crisis in Rivers and the nation as a whole.

While commending Tinubu for intervening in the conflict between Wike and his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, Idimogu argued that the president’s intervention came too late.

“The president made the right move, but it was a bit late, as the signs have been evident. Rivers State is a critical point for Nigeria, particularly regarding crude oil production,” Idimogu stated. “I believe the president is taking a gamble here. Wike shouldn’t hold the country and Rivers State hostage. While Wike helped us win the election, that doesn’t mean the president can’t do without him.”

Idimogu further criticized Wike’s influence, calling him “a bad market” not only for the APC but for President Tinubu himself. He urged the president to reassess his support for Wike, suggesting that there are other capable individuals who could handle the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory better.

“The president must review Wike’s actions. Why must it always be Wike? Wike will only bring trouble to the president,” Idimogu warned. “As far as I’m concerned, he’s a bad market for the APC and for the president.”

Idimogu also pointed out that Wike was benefiting from opportunities he didn’t earn, unlike figures like former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who worked hard for the president but were not given such opportunities.

He concluded by acknowledging Tinubu’s efforts to address the nation’s challenges, stating that while the president has made progress, the situation remains critical. He emphasized that Tinubu, as a leader with a deep democratic legacy, needs to make bold decisions for the nation’s future.
