Senator Ndume Condemns Renewed Attacks
Meanwhile, Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned the latest wave of terrorist attacks in his constituency, calling the situation “deeply worrisome” and unacceptable.
In a statement on Thursday, Ndume revealed that four farmers were killed by Boko Haram insurgents while harvesting crops in Kwam village, near Dille community in Askira-Uba Local Government Area. He expressed concern that these attacks occurred despite years of military operations aimed at protecting remote communities.
Ndume said, “I am very much perturbed over the renewed attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in parts of my constituency over the last week. These attacks led to the killing of four farmers while harvesting their crops in Kwam village, near Dille community of Askira-Uba local government area.”
He added that the killings are part of a broader surge in extremist activities across local communities.
The senator also recalled recent attacks, noting, “Just last week, a church and other infrastructures in Pemi were set ablaze, and yesterday (Wednesday), there were reports of a Boko Haram incursion in the Shikarkir community of Chibok local government area in Borno State.”
Ndume criticized the inability of security forces to provide consistent protection for rural settlements, stressing that the lack of sustained security presence has emboldened insurgents to operate freely.
