Chimezie Imo Opens Up: ‘Why I Don’t See Myself as a Celebrity
Despite his rising fame, Imo emphasized his focus on his craft, saying, “For me, it has always been about the work. As I often tell people, I am not a celebrity—I am an actor. I love the work, and when people recognize and appreciate it, that’s what truly matters to me. It’s not just about being acknowledged as an actor but about people connecting with my work and finding meaning in it. That’s what fulfillment looks like for me.”
Speaking about his experiences in 2024, he said, “This year has been incredibly special for me. It’s been a time of immense learning and change, both personally and professionally. I can confidently say it’s been my best year so far.”
To his colleagues in the industry, especially those starting out, Imo advised, “Never stop learning as an actor. I remind myself of this constantly—learning never ends.”
Reflecting on the evolution of his family dynamics, especially during the festive season, the actor expressed nostalgia for the past. “I’ve always celebrated Christmas with my family, but now I miss those times because everyone is grown and spread across different parts of the world. I cherish the memories of us all being together at home, enjoying coconut rice like every other family during Christmas.”
