The ongoing gunbattle between military forces and bandits has intensified following the recent murder of two soldiers on the Gusau-Funtua highway.
Reports indicate that since the death of the military personnel, soldiers have engaged in relentless “fire for fire” operations against the bandits, vowing not to retreat or surrender.
In response to the escalating violence, soldiers have been deployed to key locations throughout the state, strategically positioned in anticipation of further attacks by the bandits.
Eyewitness Usman Magazu reported a prolonged and intense gunfight on the Gusau-Funtua highway, which lasted for several hours. He noted that local villagers have abandoned farming activities to avoid the risks posed by the banditry.
“The military is determined to counter the terrorists with unwavering resolve. However, the ongoing conflict between the two factions leaves ordinary citizens in a precarious situation,” Magazu expressed.
