Operatives from the Inspector General of Police’s Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB) have successfully raided an illegal petroleum refinery in Rivers State. According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation took place on Thursday, with IGP-STFPIB agents collaborating with officers from the Rivers Command to target the Trans Amadi area of Port-Harcourt, the state capital.

The operation was initiated following the discovery of a facility used for storing and processing illegally obtained crude oil. During the raid, four suspects—Emmanuel Nwachi, Adamu Bala, Nura Musa, and Bashir Abubakar—were apprehended. Additionally, approximately 40,000 liters of petroleum products stored in 67 white tanks were seized.

The police team dismantled the site and confiscated the equipment and machinery used in the illegal activities. Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, reiterated the Force’s commitment to combating all forms of crime, including economic sabotage, and vowed to continue holding perpetrators accountable.
